Common Questions about EMDR Intensives
-
EMDR Intensives offer extended therapy sessions that allow more space and time for deeper trauma processing.
For some people, having longer sessions creates an opportunity to focus more fully on their healing without the natural pauses that occur between weekly appointments.
Intensives can be especially helpful for individuals who would like to dedicate focused time to working through difficult or unresolved experiences in a supportive and contained way.
This work can help ease distress connected to traumatic or painful life experiences while also supporting a greater understanding of triggers and developing ways to respond to them with more steadiness and self-awareness.
-
It truly depends. EMDR intensives can last multiple hours or sometimes days. For most clients, this means about 6 hours a day with breaks over 1-3 days. It’s designed this way to help you manage the reprocessing.
-
Yes, it is very effective. Sometimes traditional 45–60-minute EMDR sessions aren’t enough. Intensives reduce negative symptoms of PTSD in a shorter time frame, which can lead to profound healing and integration. One of the significant benefits of EMDR intensives is that there are no interruptions as you work toward recovery, allowing you to dedicate the majority of your time to processing and working through negative experiences and traumatic memories.
-
EMDR intensives are for anyone with specific goals, issues, or symptoms they want to address through the reprocessing experience. Some specific clients I work with are busy parents, working professionals, athletes, and individuals in the entertainment business who prefer personalized support for their preferred schedule and timeline for their healing journey.
